Mimi’s Mini Devotionals
Summertime is usually a time when families take vacation trips. Traveling by car or plane everyone takes off to a destination for a week or two. Having all you need for trip like that takes planning and preparation. Luckily, if you forget something or run out of snacks there are some convenient stores or fast food places along the way.
How would you like to plan for a trip that take 40 years to reach your destination? And what if on this trip there were no stores or restaurants. Not even one. Sounds like a long and hard trip and impossible, right? There was such a trip like that in the Bible.
It took the children of Israel forty years to reach the Promise Land. Their travel was in the desert. There was no way they could have packed enough clothes, food or items to make this trip. In fact the Bible tells us their supplies ran out, they were a tired, hungry and thirsty people with no stores in sight.
When we are traveling down a highway and we get tired, hungry and thirsty we look for those signs that tell us that a Chick-fil-A or Best Western is at the next exit. When Israel was on their trip they looked to God for their needs along the way for there were no exit signs on this trip.
God provided food, water and rest to Israel on their forty year trip. He supplied manna which was a bread like substance and he provided water from a Rock.
The God who supplied all their needs is the same God that supplies all our needs. God is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow. He never abandons us on our life trip and will give us all our needs because His love endures forever.
Let’s look at all the Bible tells us about God and how He provides: “He (God) rained down manna for them to eat; he gave them bread from heaven.”Psalms 78:24 NLT
“So the people of Israel ate manna for forty years until they arrived at the land where they would settle. …” Exodus 16:35 NLT
“He (God) split open the rocks in the wilderness to give them water, as from a gushing spring.” Psalms 78:15 NLT
“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT
“He gives food to every living thing. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of heaven. His faithful love endures forever.” Psalms 136:25-26 NLT
Today give God your praises for Him being faithful to provide for all your needs. Tell Him how much you love Him and trust Him. Mimi and God loves you miles and miles and miles.
