Mimi’s Mini Devotionals
It’s hard to believe that its summertime already. Instead of heading out to school, you will soon be heading out to the pool.
The pool can be a really fun place to hang-out on hot summer days. But even fun places like pools come with some rules.
You’ve seen the big signs posted by the entry gate that have all the do’s and don’ts. Those rules are there for a reason. Mainly to keep you and others safe as you enjoy your time in the pool.
At times our natural tendency is to ignore a rule or two. Like maybe “No Running” or “No Glass Containers ”. It’s not that running or glass containers are wrong or bad, they are just not safe at the pool. Rules are made to follow and rules are needed to protect us and help us.
In the Bible, God calls His rules commandments. He gives us the Ten Commandments, 10 “do and don’ts” and when we follow them our lives are safer and better just like when we obey the pool rules.
Let’s take a look.
- Do not worship any other gods.
- Do not make any idols.
- Do not misuse Gods name.
- Do keep the Sabbath holy.
- Do honor your father and mother.
- Do not murder.
- Do not commit adultery.
- Do not steal.
- Do not lie.
- Do not covet.
My prayer for you today is that you will always take rules seriously. The ones at the pool and the ones that God has given us.
I saw a cute sign at a craft show once that read, “Life is Better at the Pool.”
Mimi needs to make a sign that says:
“Life is Better when we follow His rules.”
Let summer begin. See you soon, at the pool.
